Frequently asked questions

What is SoundSprout?

SoundSprout is a guided, five-minute daily speech-sound practice app for children, used at home with a parent nearby.

Who is it for?

It is for families of children who are working on a specific English speech sound, including homeschool families, children learning English, and families practicing between speech-therapy sessions.

What does it help kids practice?

Specific English speech sounds, one at a time, at the word level: hearing a clear model and trying each word one or two times.

How does it work?

Each day a child practices ten target words for one sound. A warm narrator models each word, the child tries it one or two times, and a storybook forest world comes alive as they go.

Which speech sounds does it support?

R, S, L, TH, SH, CH, K, G, F, V, Z and consonant blends (such as bl, st and fr).

Is SoundSprout speech therapy?

SoundSprout is not speech therapy. It does not diagnose, evaluate or treat speech disorders, and it does not replace a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP). It supports home practice.

How much does it cost?

SoundSprout Family costs $14.99 per month or $149.99 per year (USD) and starts with a 7-day free trial.

What is included?

One account covers up to five children, each with their own practice sound and a new daily mission, streaks, collectible forest friends, completion certificates and a parent dashboard with practice history.

How does the 7-day free trial work?

You choose a plan and enter payment details at checkout. Nothing is charged for 7 days; if you cancel before the trial ends you are not charged. After 7 days the plan renews until cancelled, and you can cancel from the parent dashboard.

Does it record my child's voice?

Children's voices are not recorded or uploaded; microphone audio stays on the device. SoundSprout rewards effort and does not score pronunciation.

Does it check if my child says the word correctly?

No. SoundSprout rewards effort, not accuracy. It does not score pronunciation.

Can I change my child's sound?

Yes, any time from the parent area. Each month also has a default sound.

Is there a Spanish version?

The practice itself is in English, since it's for English speech sounds. We offer parent guides in Spanish at /es.
