Privacy Policy
SoundSprout is used by families with young children, so we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small. This page explains exactly what that is.
What we collect
- • The parent's email address, used to sign in.
- • Each child's first name (or nickname), chosen character and chosen practice sound.
- • Practice activity: which days a session was completed, how many sessions and target words were practiced, streak days and earned keepsakes.
We do not ask for a child's age, date of birth, surname, address, school, photo or contact details, and there is no way for a child to enter free text or message anyone.
Microphone and voice
When a child taps the microphone during practice, the browser measures only how loud the sound is, so the character on screen can react while they speak. No audio is recorded, stored, uploaded or analyzed, and nothing leaves the device. SoundSprout does not use speech recognition and does not judge whether a word was said correctly.
You can use SoundSprout without granting microphone access at all.
Audio the app plays
The narrated words your child hears are generated by a text-to-speech service from the lesson text (not from your child's voice) and cached so the same word doesn't need generating twice. No personal data is sent to that service.
How we use it
Only to run the product: sign you in, show your children's practice history and streaks, produce certificates and practice summaries, and keep the service working. We do not sell data, we do not run ads, and we do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
Where it's stored
Account and practice data is stored in our managed cloud database with access rules that restrict every record to the parent account that owns it. Staff access is limited to what is needed to operate and support the service.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from the Parent area. Deleting removes your child profiles and all practice history. You can also remove an individual child profile without closing the account. If you would like a copy of your data or need help, email hello@thesoundsprout.com from the address on your account, or use the contact page.
Privacy contact
Questions about this policy, your data or your child's data: hello@thesoundsprout.com.
Children's privacy
Accounts are created and controlled by an adult. See our Children's Privacy page for detail on how the child experience is designed.
Changes and effective date
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we'll notify account holders by email. This policy is effective as of September 6, 2026.
